The 2012 reunion will be taking place on the weekend Friday 4th to Sunday 6th May at Leicester.

Booking Accommodation: We have provisionally earmarked enough accommodation for 60 to 80 people. There are only 8 single rooms available, when these have been allocated those on their own occupying a twin or double bedded room will be charged an extra supplement of only £10. To attract the discounted rates book accommodation under the name of "Fitter's Troop" through the Conference& Banqueting Department Manager, Victoria Sykes. All telephone bookings must be confirmed with the details of a credit or debit card. Deposits are not required. You can cancel your booking without incurring any charges if you give a minimum of 24 hours (1 day) notice before your booking arrival date.
Reservations cannot be held indefinitely so to save any disappointment you are advised to book as soon as possible. The accommodation for 60 to 80 people will be held for our members until 31 March 2012. After this date Victoria will try to accommodate late applicants, but you may be offered alternative accommodation in a hotel nearby. Payment for accommodation, bar bills, room service, telephone calls, etc. must be settled before your departure.
Saturday Dinner Evening: A four course dinner with complimentary wine and light entertainment has been arranged at a cost of £29 per person (Please see the Menu enclosed) If attendance is 60 people or less, the dinner will be held in the Bosworth Suite which has its own bar facility. For 60 plus attending, then the dinner will be held in the main restaurant.
Meals: Please note if you have booked accommodation with breakfast and the Saturday evening dinner you will still have to make your own arrangements for all other meals required during your stay.
Booking Form: Those attending the reunion are requested to complete the attached Booking Form and if you are attending the dinner evening to enclose payment. Voluntary Subscriptions: New members to the fold or those who may not have contributed yet can voluntary subscribe if they so wish. I have made provision for contributions on the enclosed booking form. I will acknowledge and record all payments so the Committee can audit on a regular basis.
Raffle: Please support the raffle again for our 13threunion and bring along any unwanted gifts or bottles of plonk or anything that will raise a little cash for our funds.
Location of Venue: Please ask for a map and directions when booking your accommodation.
General: We have tried to organise the weekend to suit everybody's needs so it can be taken as a short or long weekend break. Some of you may wish to stay in the area with relatives or friends and some may live close enough to travel in and out of Leicester without having to book accommodation.
Whatever your requirements the whole idea of this reunion is to be a flexible, relaxed and an easy going weekend, so you can attend for the day or the whole weekend in the company of old acquaintances.

Conclusion: If you haven't decided to join us yet we hope this letter convinces you that you must come along and enjoy a weekend break in familiar company, albeit some of you may not have met since the 1960s.
Bereavement: On a sad note Jim Massie suffered a stroke and several months later a fatal heart attack and passed away on 25 July 2011. Jim served in the QRIH LAD during 1960 to 1965 as a Cpl armourer. I believe he completed his 22 years service and reached the rank of WO1 ASM. He was a member of the Fitters Troop and regularly attended our reunions. Roger (Trixie) Traves, David Innes Lumsden & Dominic Colella attended Jim's funeral on Monday 08 August 2011 at Harwood Park Crematorium in Stevenage. A wreath and flowers were laid on behalf of the Fitter's Troop and the Regimental Association. Jim leaves a son & daughter, Stewart &Heather. A sympathy card with our condolences was sent to the family.
